A1. J-Power Isogo Thermal Power Plant

J-POWERJ-POWER is the largest wholesale trade electric enterprise in Japan. It mainly produces electricity from coal and hydroelectric power stations. Isogo thermal power plant, located in the city of Yokohama, was originally built in the late 1960s in accordance with the government’s coal policy. It has helped to stabilize power supply in Yokohama and the Tokyo metropolitan area for over 30 years. However, for the purpose of further reducing environmental impact and raising stability and reliability of power supply, the station was renewed to the state-of the art coal fired thermal facilities in 2002 and 2009. For J-POWER, the Isogo new thermal power plant is the current model for coal-fired thermal power, bringing together various clean coal technologies. It provides the highest level generating efficiency of any coal fired thermal plant in Japan by raising steam turbine pressure and temperature to extremely high levels, called Ultra Super Critical (USC). In replacing the power plant, J-POWER has signed a new pollution prevention agreement with the city of Yokohama, which stipulates more stringent standards for SOx, NOx and other substances.

A2. TOSHIBA Corporation Power System Company

TOSHIBAToshiba Corporation Power System Company provides a range of products for nuclear, thermal, and hydro power plants. Keihin product operations began operation in 1925 as a manufacturing plant for power plant products.
Turbine works, which is one of Keihin product operations, produce steam turbine and also does assembly and disassembly gas turbine, especially rotor. TGTC (Toshiba-GE Turbine Components Co., Ltd.) in Turbine works produces longer blades for steam turbine.

JAXAThe Japan Aerospace eXploration Agency (JAXA) is Japan's national aero-space agency belonging to the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT). JAXA is responsible for research and development of aerospace technology and is involved in many more advanced missions, such as asteroid exploration. The Chofu Aerospace Center is a major research centers for research and development for aviation technology and has large-size facilities including wind tunnels and a super computer. There are also aero engine test facilities, such as the Jet Engine Test Cell, the Altitude test facility, the Fan and compressor test facility and the High-pressure and high-temperature combustion test facility. Utilizing these facilities, "advanced Fan Jet Research (aFJR)" project, which puts emphasis on developing and verifying technologies for lightweight fan with improved aerodynamic efficiency and lightweight low-pressure turbine, and "Green engine technology", which is a research and development initiative for high-pressure components and core engine system technologies, and engine noise reduction, are conducted.

IHI

The IHI Aerospace Museum is mainly dedicated to jet engine history, and includes space products and industrial gas turbines produced by IHI Aero-Engines and Space Operations. The history of our jet engine manufacturing goes back to 1957, when President Toshio Doko bought out a facility located in the Tanashi area ,Tokyo, to commence production of J47 jet engine parts under license with GE.
